What this checks
Collects the links on the page that point to the same site and checks up to 15 of them, showing each link's HTTP status. Links that return 404 (not found) or 410 (gone) are flagged as broken. External links are not checked.
It's one of the 35 checks in the free AI Visibility Checker, which scores a page on everything AI engines look at.
Broken Link Checker FAQs
What is a broken link?
A link to a page that no longer exists, usually returning a 404 (not found) or 410 (gone) status.
Why do broken internal links matter?
They waste crawl budget, stop crawlers from reaching the rest of your content and frustrate visitors. A dead link is a branch of your site an AI engine may never reach.
How many links does this check?
Up to 15 internal links per page, the same sample the full AI Visibility Checker uses.
How do I fix a broken link?
Point the link at the page's current URL, add a 301 redirect from the old URL if the content moved, or remove the link if the page is gone for good.
